Well, Baby.

Just a quick update. Today was Emmitt's well baby visit for his 1 year checkup. I also got a flu shot for him and myself. It went pretty well. Here are his stats: He weighed 22 lbs. 11 oz. which is in the 71% (surprised me; I thought he was closer to 25 by how difficult it is to carry him lately); He is 29.5 inches in length which is the 35% (a shorty like his mommy); and his head was 18.8 in. in circumference which is the 90% (again surprised because this stat was never put into percentile terms for me before, but happy to have it!). And here are a few pictures...taken BEFORE the shots!

Playing like he doesn't have a care in the world.

SUPER BABY (notice his cape)! Ready to take the shots head on!

I say this often, but I am pretty sure he is teething. He has been fairly inconsolable over the last few nights. Three nights in the past week he has screamed and the only thing that helps to get him back to sleep is a bottle. Wonder how well that will work here pretty soon when we switch to whole milk.....

A Year of Emmitt

One year ago today, at 12:41 PM, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! I didn't know how much my life would change for the better with a boy! I was a little worried about having a boy. I didn't know how much fun it could be!

Here is the life of Emmitt in pictures. Hopefully soon, I will be adding some stats on what he is doing, how much he weighs and how long he is.

The pictures on the left were taken right before we started inducing. The ones on the right were taken a few days after Emmitt was born.

Some pictures from the hospital.

This picture is bittersweet. There are characteristics to this day that remind me SO much of Babe B. I have a shot almost identical to this of my Babe B.'s ear and hair.

Love at first sight!

First smile to be captured on camera.
First Christmas and first soccer ball (notably his favorite one to this day)!

First illness which turned out to also be his first hospital stay!

First Easter.

First vacation.

And last, but certainly not least, the 12 month chair pictures! These were WAY more difficult to take! He was NOT having it!

Celebration of the Year!

By that, I of course mean the first year of Emmitt's life! And how wonderful it has been!

Gift zone was on the hearth.

This was the big kid table.

Adult table and Emmitt's throne area!

Timeline of Emmitt.

Happy monkey cupcakes.

Birthday boy's throne.

Let the party begin! There was Pizza!

A smash cake.

♪Happy birthday to you!♪

He went straight for the eyes and nose first.

After the eyes and nose are gone, he finally gets a handful of cake!

Sweet victory!

How messy was Emmitt? SOOOO messy!

Oh SO messy!

After a very involved cleaning by the cleaning crew, it was time to open gifts.

"Is it really time Mommy?!"

First....
a Dallas Cowboys sock monkey from our Johnnaer!

Next....
An Elmo, some trucks and a Thomas toy from Kelly, Kylie and Carter!

And from Grandma and Grandpa?

Hey! I'm getting the hang of this! (Not pictured: A tractor as well as the front loader that wasn't wrapped a few pictures above.)

Just like his sister, he was totally enamored with the bow on the box from Mommy and Daddy!

He was an old pro at tearing paper at this point.

A set of little tikes foam balls (he has a mean throw and is bound to be a baller), some sliders and a winter coat.

And of course he had to ham it up for the camera!

Grandpa made his day when he joined in on the fun!

I'd say it was a success!
**Note: No REAL monkeys were harmed in the making of this party!**

Hopefully I can add one more chair picture tomorrow on his ACTUAL birthday. It will be statless, but will have lots of fun stuff to add!
